The CCG has approved plans submitted by Harwood Close Surgery and Ashfield Medical Centre to join together and work as one practice from 1 July 2018.
The plans, approved by our Joint Primary Care Commissioning Committee (JPCC) on 14 June, involve relocating Harwood Close Surgery into the current building for Ashfield Medical Centre. The practice will be named ‘The King’s Medical Centre.’
All patients registered with Harwood Close Surgery received letters last week advising them about changes to where they access GP services.
Following the practice merger patients are expected to experience:
- Increased availability of doctors and nurses
- Improved accessibility of premises
- Opportunity for increased range of services to be delivered
The change follows a period of extensive engagement with local patients, carried out by the clinical commissioning group’s engagement team. Over 80 per cent of people who participated in surveys and events responded positively to the plans. We would like to thank everyone who took part, by providing valuable feedback.
A further review of patient experience is planned following the merger to understand the impact of the changes after three months.
Please contact the Patient Experience Team on 0800 028 3693 (select option 1) if you require any further information.
